History

Wenger & J.R. Clancy bring performance in every detail through stage, sound and storage solutions for performing arts markets around the world.

For more than 65 years, Wenger has been a place where talented people transform great ideas into amazing solutions. This is a place where quality counts and products are built to perform flawlessly. And most importantly, this is a place where people are dedicated to enhancing performing arts around the world.

In 2011, Wenger acquired J.R. Clancy, Inc. Our two companies share a long history of collaboration and a proud tradition of market-leading innovation, safety and customer service. Our founders – Harry Wenger and John Clancy – were each passionate visionaries who understood the challenges their customers faced. In the 1880s, John Clancy was a stagehand who began designing and building stage-rigging equipment, inspired by a lack of suitable alternatives. In the 1940s, Harry Wenger was a band director who invented products that helped educate music students and the next generation of performers.

Today Wenger employs more than 500 manufacturing, marketing and sales professionals. We offer nearly 600 products to performing art center architects, consultants and facility managers around the world. But most of all, we share your passion for performance.
