The new J.R. Clancy Summit Theatron Hoist has been engineered as an economical solution for high school and university theatres. This hoist offers optimal capacity, travel, speed, and load sensing to meet the demands of any performance space.
The Summit Theatron design is built on a proven, precision-engineered parallel groove cylindrical drum designed for multi-layer cable winding for smooth and consistent performance.
Many hoists can be upwards of 14-feet long and up to 700 lb. That makes installation challenging without special equipment and a sizeable crew. Summit is designed with a separate backbone (~125 lb) that can be secured to your grid first. A chain hoist can then be secured to the backbone for lifting the structure into position.Protecting your sets and the people below is job #1. That’s why Summit includes a load brake mounted directly on the drum shaft. In the unlikely event of a motor or gearbox failure, the load is still securely held.
Annual inspections are a requirement for most theatres. Summit’s open architecture allows fast, easy access to the drum, motor, and brake. Simply remove one panel for a clear view, making maintenance quick and straightforward.
