Description

Texas Tech University’s Hemmle Recital Hall hosts over 500 performances each year and is home to a historic Great Ballenger Holtkamp pipe organ.  Renovations to the hall began in 2022, with fundraising efforts reaching back even further. Updates to the space focused on improving acoustics, accessibility, technology, and overall aesthetics.

The new audience seating for the hall features Wenger’s Cavea™ Fixed Audience Chairs in beautiful and durable wood and fabric finishes to modernize the look of the space. Cavea’s comfortable ergonomic design and quiet operation, paired with its durability and low maintenance, make it the perfect choice for this busy recital hall.

To improve the acoustics of the space, Wenger engineered a custom Diva® shell that is permanently installed above the main stage area. It is complemented with acoustical ceilings that can be adjusted to further enhance the audience and performer experience in the hall.

In addition to the Diva shell and ceilings, Transform Motorized Acoustic Banners were installed to provide the venue with greater flexibility to fine tune the acoustics depending on the type of performance taking place on stage. The banners can be raised or lowered to provide a more or less reverberant space overall.

Hemmle Recital Hall celebrated its grand re-opening on October 5th 2024. Students and visitors alike will enjoy many years of superior concert experiences in this newly updated venue.
